RTUK Launches Investigation into Kizilcik Serbeti

Kizilcik Serbeti, known for its depiction of the dynamics between conservative and secular families, has frequently faced backlash and scrutiny from RTÜK for allegedly undermining Turkish moral and family values.
The first episode of its fourth season, which aired this Friday, sparked significant controversy among viewers due to a recent plot development: the main character Doğa becoming involved in an extramarital relationship with her sister-in-law’s husband.
In response to the public reaction and mounting criticism, RTÜK has also issued a statement and launched an official review into the series.
RTÜK Chairman Ebubekir Şahin stated:
The family is the firmest pillar of our nation; our customs, traditions, and moral values are the strongest bonds that unite us. The declaration of 2025 as the 'Year of the Family' is a clear indication of how important these values are to our state and nation.
It must not be forgotten that any broadcast targeting the family does not remain limited to the screen; it directly affects our children’s minds, our youth’s future, and the peace of our society. In this context, the public reactions and complaints received by our institution regarding the series Kızılcık Şerbeti, aired on Show TV, have been carefully evaluated, and the necessary procedures regarding the production will be carried out immediately.
Our people should rest assured that the Supreme Council, especially within the framework of the 'Year of the Family', will not remain indifferent to any content that may harm our family structure and social values, and will take the necessary action with determination.
