Recently, a local International newspaper interview was conducted with a famous Turkish actress Deniz Barut, in which she expressed her thoughts in a very graceful manner.

Recently, harassment exposés have made a big impact. Have you ever experienced something like this?

She said without blinking eye WE MUST BE STRONG AS IRON AGAINST HARASSMENT.

Every woman has. I believe we must no longer be the women who stay silent, who can’t speak because of social pressure, who get used to it, who accept it. We need to speak up, not stay quiet, stand behind one another, and unite like an iron wrist. I think this is a new awakening.

Tell us about your beauty rituals?

She answered I think cleanliness and the right rituals are great for skin, hair—everything. I change my pillowcase every day. And I take ice baths. Apart from that, I’m after the ancient wisdom that exists in nature.

Do you get fillers or Botox?

I don’t. I regularly get vitamin injections. When the time comes, anything can be done. But for now, I just want to preserve my age naturally.

CHOOSING ONLY THE ROLES I LOVE IS TOO UTOPIAN

Deniz Barut appears in the series “Anatomy of Chaos.” We met with the actress to talk about the project, the acting industry, her family life, and her relationship with Yüksel Aksu.

Can you tell us about the story of Anatomy of Chaos?

It’s one of the best recent works covering the underworld and street relationships. We have a family that, for various reasons, has become completely accustomed to iron bars. They live as if they own the streets. They’re tied together with both incredibly strong bonds and with bonds as thin as a strand of hair. When the balance breaks, chaos erupts.

What is your role in this family?

I play the sister-in-law, a strong female character. The only trait I share with her is being nurturing. Nazmiye is deeply devoted to her family, husband, and child. She’s passionately in love, passionately a mother. That makes her place in the family very valuable. Everyone on the team gave their all, and we worked with incredible synergy. Anatomy of Chaos will always hold a special place in my life.

THERE ARE MANY ACTORS BUT FEW PROJECTS

Are you very picky with project selection?

I wish we could be that picky... but life doesn’t allow it. While trying to choose the right projects that feed us, we also have lives that must keep flowing. Honestly, saying “I only choose roles I love” feels too romantic and utopian now. Nobody can always choose only the roles they love. Those roles don’t always come to us anyway. There are many actors, but few projects. Still, I try to choose characters that will challenge me. Nazmiye is like that.

I NEVER USED POPULARITY

There are lots of actors, but also many chosen for fame or Instagram followers. Has this ever been an issue for you?

I’ve never faced that. Anyone who comes to me knows why. Since I’ve never used popularity much, I’ve probably faced disadvantages because of it. I’ve had no advantage in that sense, and I know it. I want to be remembered as someone who’s good at her craft, the kind of actor a writer would say, “Oh, she would be amazing in this role.” But there’s also popular culture it serves a purpose and finds its audience. I think there should be balance.

Some people want to be actors, others want to be famous. Generally, actors don’t want to be famous. They may become famous because of the roles they play, but it bothers them. When an actor’s own identity overshadows their characters, it becomes a handicap. I don’t understand the rush to be famous. But yes, it exists—especially in the new generation.
